According to the study carried out by the German Information Technologies Association, BITKOM, the demand for IT specialists will continue to increase in 2020, and 124,000 positions are currently vacant. This figure shows a record increase of 51% compared to 2019 (there were 82,000 vacancies in the IT industry in 2019). Experts explain that this increase is a result of the digitization initiative Germany started in 2019 and this need will continue to increase in the coming years.

In order to meet the need of IT specialists in 2020 and to prevent the gap from even more widening, Germany has facilitated residence and work permits for those who reside outside the European Union and can document their expertise in the sector.
