The shortage of existing skilled workers has become the biggest commercial risk in the German construction industry. At the beginning of 2019, 81 per cent of companies in the construction industry described this shortage as a risk for their economic development in the survey by the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce. This figure was only 21% at the beginning of 2010.
While the general rate in the German industry was at a record level of 58%, the rate in the construction sector is much higher than that, indicating that alarm bells are ringing for the German construction industry.

It is revealed that the number of open positions, which was 100,000 in 2019, will reach 200,000 in 2020, and it is not possible to meet this need within the European Union.
